Tidbits from the Top

Cold-Weather Concrete

Pouring concrete in cold temperatures is not just “another day at the office”.  Since one of the ingredients of concrete is water, the concrete mixture must be protected from freezing during the early hydration stage.  Companies that supply ready-mixed concrete during cold weather heat the water and aggregate used to allow the mixture to properly hydrate, also known as cure, assuming proper measures are taken on the job site by the contractor.  Although concrete can be placed in very cold temperatures, Economy Garages’ policy is to pour concrete only if the temperatures are above 20 degrees with no frost present in the ground in the area beneath the pour.
