50 Years – Code Introduction & Changes

In 50 years, all people, businesses, standards, and ways of thinking go through changes, sometimes major.  Economy Garages has been building quality structures since before there were any building codes adopted for residential detached accessory buildings in either Minnesota or Wisconsin.  Residential dwelling construction became more uniform and safer when the states adopted codes specifically for homes.  Minnesota adopted the Uniform Building Code in 1972 then moved to the International Residential Code in 2012.  Wisconsin created the Uniform Dwelling Code in 1980 and continues using it today.  Problem is, neither of these codes were written to include detached accessory structures, or garages.  Both states have recently been trying to include garages in their codes.  Through all the changes, Economy Garages continues to comply or exceed the codes in each state.
