Tidbits from the Top

Anchor Bolt Requirements

There is a rhyme and reason for the type and location of anchor bolts needed in a concrete floor. Okay… forget about the rhyme… I’ve got nothing. Anchor bolts are required to be ½” in diameter but are not required to be galvanized even when used with treated wood; however, Economy Garages uses ½” galvanized bolts as a standard. They must also be embedded a minimum of 7” into the concrete, must be no more than 6’ apart, and two must be within each break in the bottom plate. The anchors must protrude at least 2” high to account for the thickness of a standard treated bottom plate and have enough room to have a washer placed and a nut securely fastened.
