Building Phases – Permits

Depending on the area in which the building is to be built, either a Zoning Permit or Building Permit will be required.  In areas that have a state licensed building official on staff or those that utilize an official that covers a wider range, a Building Permit would be received and would require inspections to be done during and after construction.  Zoning Permits would be granted in almost all other circumstances.  Municipalities vary quite a bit when it comes to the processing and receiving of a permit.  It can range from days to weeks depending on their specific process, manpower and workloads.
